|The NAVIS TOS system used in Haifa Port is the most advanced in the world for the management of container terminals. The computerized system automatically manages container activities at the port (unloading/loading/storage/Relocation) and facilitates maximum efficiency in operations and speeds up work significantly.
Haifa Port's TOS system began operating at all the terminals in May 2011. The replacement of the "Nimrod" system by the TOS system was facilitated in stages until it became fully operational.
The TOS system developed by the American Zebra company (ZES Enterprise Solutions) was first activated on the 31st of October at the start of a pilot project for the system at Haifa Port. The first vessel that went through the new system was the MSC Edith. Her unloading was successfully accomplished when, in just one shift, 180 operations were completed.
Just one month after the TOS system began full operation, the container conveyance record for one shift was broken at the Carmel Terminal. The new record of 331 containers was set in the conveyance (loading and unloading) of the MSC PERLE. Since then, even this record has been broken, twice and the record for container conveyance in one shift now stands at 401 containers. By any standards, these are very high figures but, when we consider that these figures were reached only a few months after the TOS system "took over" on all the quays at Haifa Port, this is an extraordinary achievement that points to the successful assimilation of the system at all levels.
