|The Haifa Port Company's management concept includes a business and cultural obligation to the community within which we live. The company's activities stem from a sense of duty and a social obligation to do, to give and to act for the community.
Haifa Port operates in a number of areas involving community involvement:
Adopting Brigade 7
The management and employees of Haifa Port have adopted the soldier serving in Brigade 7 since the 7th of March 1974 when Avigdor Kahalani, the Brigade's commander, instigated the connection with the port. Donations by the management and from the employees raise some 120,000 NIS a year for the soldiers benefit. Every year, a list of requests for the Brigade's soldiers is presented to the Port: backpacks, shirts, hats, covers for dog tags, weapons belts, sweets, and donuts during Hanukah and more. Each gift, when given, carries the dedication "With you all the way" and the port's symbol. In addition, the soldiers are invited to the port for a sail, a meal and a small gift, recreation days at the Gali Gil Country Club and the Neveh Sha'anan Sportan. The port also installs air conditioners at base dining rooms and renovates the Brigade's "Military Legacy" room.
Every year, the Brigade and its soldiers host the children of port employees who reach the age of 13 (Bar mitzvah), take them for a tour of the Golan Heights, spend time at one of the regimental bases and end with a military lunch.
The LIBI Fund
Every year the management and employees of Haifa Port give some 10,000 NIS to the LIBI Fund for IDF Soldiers.
