Haifa port has adopted a policy of protecting environmental quality based on the following principles:

The merging of environmental concerns within the decision-making process regarding port development under the principle of Sustainable Energy Development.

Operating each port facility (unloading, loading, transport and storage) with the goal of continually minimizing environmental impact while simultaneously monitoring and tracking actual impact.

Operating strictly according to the laws and standards of the state of Israel regarding all environmental legislation, and in addition, adopting appropriate practices and standards for all areas not currently mandated by law.

Intelligent use of natural resources - for example, land, sea, water and energy, with the goal of reduced waste production and the recycling of materials whenever possible.

Participating in and contributing to community projects (in the city of Haifa) concerning environmental issues.

Actively increasing the awareness of port staff, contractors, and customers about the environmental obligations and responsibilities of each.
